Industrial Court reinstates sacked UNIBEN staff

The National Industrial Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has ordered the authority of University of Benin (UNIBEN) to reinstate its Deputy Director of ICT Department for unlawful dismissal from the university’s service in 2013. The University’s director, Kehinde Samuel, a claimant, approached the court on October 9, 2013 over his wrongful dismissal by the Governing Council of the university on July 18, 2013 without any substantive offence committed. Justice Oyebiola Oyewumi in her ruling said the dismissal of the claimant from his employment was unlawful and of no effect. Oyewumi said the purported dismissal was contrary to the rules of Natural Justice and the Laws and Regulations regarding the nature, tenure and discipline of senior staff of the university. The Leadership of the Federation of Ekiti State Students’ Union has congratulated the governor of Ekiti State, Dr Fayemi Kayode on his swearing-in. Oyo state government has said only the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology governing council has the right to increase student’s tuition fees. In an interview with journalists on Thursday Commissioner for information, Culture and Tourism, TOYE ARULOGUN said the governing council must have critically looked at the situation before such a decision was taken. #worldeggday2018 Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) has  staged a sensitisation  campaign to mark the World Egg Day. The campaign is to inform Nigerians the importance of egg consumption in the body.      The awareness exercise which is the First of its kind on the Federal college of Agriculture FCA Moore Plantation Apata Ibadan campus saw students and and staff of the institution troop out en-mass to celebrate the day . Our correspondent Damilola Olabode reports that  Provost of the College  Dr Babajide Adelekan also joined the train  , as ASAN went round to distribute eggs to people on the campus .  'hmmmm where is our egg ?
