google search has turned students to lazy researchers

A lecturer, Mr  Ibrahim Oseni  says students have become lazy due to their over-reliance on google search for their academic works. Oseni, who lectures at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Kwara State University, Malete made this known in an interview with the  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). According to him, the use of google search has turned students to lazy researchers. He said students now relied mainly on their phone and computer set to solve simple questions as they did not want to stress their brain thinking. “It is becoming a worrisome issue as students now run to their computer sets before they can answer simple arithmetic. New Students Union President, Federal College of Forestry Jericho Ibadan, BABATUNDE OPEYEMI has promised to run a transparent system of government and take the school to a greater stage. BABATUNDE made this declaration during the swearing-in ceremony today at the campus main hall. Breaking news The academic staff union of polytechnic, Federal college of Agriculture Moor plantation chapter are currently in a peaceful protest over the suspension of four of their members by the provost of the institution Engr Dr B.A Adelekan. Members of the union from various institutions in the south west gathered at the school gate en mass to create awareness to the general public over the maltreatment of their staff. The staff seen carrying placards with various inscriptions said the provost is refusing to implement the orders of the minister of agriculture through ARCN (agricultural research council of Nigeria). Police Arrests 3 FUTMinna Students After Protest

The Nigeria Police Force, Niger state command has announced the arrest of three persons in connection with the protest by students of the Federal University of Technology, Minna over the death of their colleague on a football field. It would be recalled that the late student, said to be at 300 level slumped on a field Wednesday and was rushed to the university’s clinic where he was pronounced dead . Not happy with the pronouncement, the students embarked on demonstration from the clinic. According to them, the deceased was not treated on arrival, only to be informed of his death. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger command, DSP Bala Elkalla, said that the rampaging students burned part of the University clinic and destroyed the official car of Dean student affairs. The National Alumni Association of Federal Polytechnic Nekede has donated the sum of One million naira to the institution for the founders’ day celebration and the photo laboratory entrepreneurship project. The donation was announced when members of the association paid a visit to the management of the institution. Speaking during the visit, the president of the association, Eng. Dr. Ben Iheakam, told the management that they are in the school for interaction that helps them to fashion out ways to help the school financially and morally. ACE-Ondo Provost Urges New Students To Be Of Good Behaviour

The Provost of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, has urged new students of the institution to be of good behaviour during and after their stay in the college. Prof. Ogen, who made the plea on Wednesday at the orientation programme organised for newly admitted students of the college, advised them to be mindful of the college environment by being security conscious.. Covenant University Gets ACCA Accreditation for Accounting Programme

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has announced its accreditation of the Accounting programme of Covenant University (CU), Ota. This was disclosed by the Acting Head of ACCA, Nigeria, Mr. Olatunji Adeleye, when he led representatives of his organisation to pay a courtesy visit to the Management of Covenant University. According to Adeleye, graduates of a typical Nigerian university are entitled to four exemptions with similar accreditation but, with the work the ACCA had done, it was able to get every single Accounting graduate of Covenant University six (6) exemptions with effect from January 1, 2017. He said that the ACCA was working with Covenant University, particularly the Accounting Department, to secure the maximum exemption within the shortest possible time so as to ensure that the University stands head and shoulder above all universities in Nigeria. UNIOSUN Extends Students’ Registration Deadline for 2016/2017 Session.

The Senate of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has approved that the registration portal be opened for use on Friday 17 February and be closed by Friday 24 February, 2017. You are advised to conclude your registration, including payment of late registration charge within this period. These are simple rules that apply in all civilized climes.
