POLYTECHNIC IBADAN SSANIP JOINS NASU FOR ONGOING STRIKE
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics
(SSANIP), the Polytechnic, Ibadan chapter has joined the Non Academic Staff
Union of the institution in the ongoing strike to protest the poor welfare of
workers.
SANNIP Chairman at the institution, Mr AKINOLA GBENGA,
confirmed this during an interview with Acadawaka Correspondent, JAMES ODEDIRAN.
He however noted that the Academic Staff Union of the
institution will not be part of the strike as it has a case in court.
Recall that the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the
Polytechnic, Ibadan, commenced an industrial action earlier this month over
their eight months unpaid arrears by the Oyo State government.
AKINOLA SSANIP JOIN
The decision is as the same as NASSU its only that we are
thinking that the management will change their decision on payment and
non-payment of salary arrears for almost April last year to September Last year.
After this week by next week, and don’t pay us, I think we
are going to close that gate down so to distort the academic activities.
Mr GBENGA also disclosed that all the South West
Polytechnics will today ( Monday) converge on Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, to
protest the alleged highhandedness of the institution’s management.
