Federal University Lafia Sanctions Erring Staff Members
The
Governing Council of Federal University Lafia (FULafia) has recently approved
the termination of appointment of some members of staff and demotion of one
other.
According
to a statement issued by the FULafia Information and Public Relations
Unit, the council gave the approval when its members met to consider the
report of the Staff Disciplinary Committee, which was established to look into
cases of illegal employment of staff in the University.
The
dismissed members of staff included Taiwo Kehinde, Clement Usoro Jackson, Usman
Anas and Ahmed Muhammed Abdulazeez, while Apeshi Salihu Abubakar was demoted
from the rank of Administrative Assistant to Executive Officer
(Administration).
Abubakar
was demoted for his role in facilitating illegal employment while the dismissed
workers were found guilty of extortion of money to offer employment in the
University.
It
would be recalled that the media, this year, reported stories of alleged
maladministration and corruption in the process of employment in FULafia under
the tenure of the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ekanem Braide.
The
media claimed that in some cases, money was collected from some people in order
to offer them employment.
