ABUAD MATRICULATES 1,980 STUDENTS; WARNS AGAINST VIOLENT CONDUCT ON CAMPUS

The management of the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) on Tuesday warned its newly matriculated 1,980 students that those with tendencies for drug abuse, cultism and rape would have no room to operate in the institution. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ABUAD’s Vice- Chancellor (VC), Prof. Michael Ajisafe, said this during the 9th matriculation of the institution held in Ado Ekiti. Ajisafe said that the institution had zero tolerance for all forms of social vices. He said the university had got accreditation for all its courses and that there would not be any reason for students to be afraid of the future. He advised the students not to abuse the academic independence they would enjoy on campus, saying any decision they take at this moment would either truncate or enhance their future’s glories. #Savemapoly ; Mapoly students protest on socila media over schools` closure

Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic MAPOLY have taken the protests against the closure of their school to social media after the citadel of learning has been shut for the past few weeks. The students who register their displeasure about the conflict between the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosu and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) took to social media with  #Savemapoly to express concern over continued closure of their school. There has been a lingering disagreement between the government and the lecturers over the conversion of  MAPOLY to a University  of Science and Technology, while another state-controlled polytechnic, Ogun State Polytechnic will be established in Ipokia area of the state. The Governor thereafter announced that MAPOLY  will cease to exist by 2021  and the state will only have MAUSTECH and Ogun Poly.
